Rituals of Renewal
by Nickey Lauren
I drag my body through the dirt for good reason.
I tear skin against stone to make space for the next season.
With milk on my tongue
I hide away from the world
and dissolve into nothingness —
where everything exists.
And as I breathe in the mystery of my destiny,
with no attempt to resist,
I become weightless.
Promise swims in the downpour.
The Sun and the Moon share the dance floor.
And I am also here to dance.
Like windswept leaves on a branch,
I move my hips in a trance.
And it is not by chance
that the beat of my heart synchronizes
to the frequency of abundance.
The sky clears and blossoms open —
another season of Gaia has spoken.
Are you listening?
Because she’s whispering —
a constant wave’s christening.
Kneel in her abundant garden
and she’ll show you all that you’ve been missing.
I drag my body through the dirt for good reason:
To remember what I’ve stopped believing.
To learn from the pain I’ve been feeling.
To let go of what no longer holds meaning.
To rise towards a brighter new season.
